Maybe I Need A Wrench To Get This Story To Work
Because of my obsession with structure at this point in time I have been trying to tap into all resources out there and find helpful and informative takes on the subject. On the surface structure seems very easy. Grab the Syd Field book and go for it. Plot point 1, plot point 2, you get it. The truth is writing is a challenge. It's time consuming, usually with little if any financial and personal gain in sight. You might end up hammering away at a screenplay for months sometimes years until it even resembles something you want to put out there to potential investors. The thing is, I know for a fact that I am writing a better screenplay because of what I now know. A screenplay is a machine with many moving parts. The more you know the mechanics of what makes a good story become a great one the better your chances are of creating one. So here is another great entry from Kung Fu Monkey on plot and story and how to distinguish the two.
