The Devolution Will Be Televised

I have come to the conclusion that the Russians are hoping the contestants eat each other for the reality show Hunger. I think the creators of this show are trying to recreate the film Alive ( or the original film I saw as a kid, Survive). The shows schedule has been accessed and they will not be going live Friday like planned. Could this happen on an American show? Could Survivor or Big Brother not air after thousands of dollars have been pumped into advertising and then not show up for the big date? I don't know? So after working 8 days straight I thought it would be a good idea to deal with just life for a day. Pay bills, scream on the phone for 4 hours with my insurance provider. You know, the usual.

In a day of rest and reflection before I go back to work I have to say it's been one of the more confusing productions I have worked on. So many unanswered questions that I don't know if I'll ever get the answers to. I do like the people though. I've bonded with the Russians and we are already sending e-mail to each other. I have been trying to explain what the term "old school" means to one of the crew members for a week now. Since the show's build is being extended probably through the weekend I'm going to grab the extra days. I'm not a big fan of reality shows but I can see how they are addictive. We are a culture that loves human wreckage and humiliation. I would kind of expect something like this from Japanese television but maybe they are more into just bludgeoning people publicly for amusement. Watch the head roll down the street. Enjoy...

I'm surprised they are doing this in the U.S., and not somewhere with friendlier laws, like Germany.
