The HBO series, The Wire. I got into it late and ended up watching the first season not too long ago. I really didn't think I was going to like it for whatever reason I had at the time. As soon as I started watching I was hooked. The writing is amazing, real deep rich characters. The level of authenticity is unbelievable. Check it out if you can. Seasons 1 and 2 are on DVD.
